Ceramics!

Last semester, I had taken a Ceramics class at school and it was such a fun experience! I started out not so great at the wheel but throughout the class, I eventually got the hang of it! Now I'm a "pro" (hahaha not really). I tried to have a lot of fun with the pots I through. If they were ugly - I painted them (using underglaze) and turned them into masterpieces! I finally got to take them home the other day and decided to share some photos! They are all Disney inspired with the exception of one.
First, here is the non-Disney one. I made this little guy around Christmas time - hence the snowflakes! You may or may not know that penguins are my FAVORITE animal ever. This was super fun to paint because it's just sooo cute!

Isn't this penguin soup mug just adorable?!

When I was on a trip to Chicago with my school's art club in December, (which was so much fun!!) I made my first stop into the Disney store in YEARS. While there, I saw some really awesome mugs including this particular one that I had to snap a pic of. It was the key inspiration for this next piece! This is a bowl of Ariel - everyone's favorite mermaid. This one was very fun to do. From the start, I wanted to do something mermaid-y, so I thought I'd do an Ariel!  It was the very last thing I made for class, so please note that is why it is very streaky and has a light coating. I didn't have time to do a second coat before finals!

I got a lot of awesome feedback on this next one. It is the house from UP and the balloons are the inside of the mug. My teacher and so many other students were in awe at how patient I was when painting it. I had to draw sooooo many balloons! All the hard work payed off though. I'm very happy with the result!

This next piece/pot/bowl was inspired by one of my all time favorite characters (in folklore and Disney AND BARBIE MOVIES!) Rapunzel! This one was very fun to do! It features Rapunzel's face wrapped around her hair which continues to wrap around the entire bowl. Looking back, I wish I would've painted a little Pascal or a frying pan in there somewhere! haha. :]

This last one is my FAVORITE! It's a soup mug but doubles as an umbrella! ....wait WHAT?! Yes! It's an umbrella for my favorite mouse couple - Minnie and Mickey! Features Mickey being the little gentleman he is and holding an umbrella over the two of them. I think this one turned out the best!

Oh boy! How cute is this?!

I can't wait to take more Ceramics classes next year. It was such a fun class and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to explore more methods of showcasing my love for art! I'm always open to new mediums. :]
I'm currently deciding whether or not I want to sell these! They are all 1 of a kind, so that is the sad part. Plus I'll probably never be able to make them again. BUT - if I keep them, they'll probably end up laying in my room unused. If you interested in purchasing one, send me an email/ contact me at the contact form above! I'm gonna say around $30 for each plus shipping (which please note will be a bit pricey since they're quite fragile! Otherwise I'm considering putting a few in my school's art auction next month. We'll see!

Let me know what you think of these, if I should do more things like this in the future, and which one's your favorite! XO XO

Till next time,

Kati
