I love Descendants, so of course I"m totally in LOVE with Dove Cameron's video to Genie in a Bottle! Check it out below! She covered this Xtina classic PERFECTLY! And I couldn't help but fall in love with her Genie Chic look. I immediately felt inspired to doodle her. *Sorry the video starts in the middle of the drawing! I didn't even think to start filming until I was pretty far in.* **I am in no way sponsored or affiliated with Disney Channel. This video was created as a tribute to Dove & Disney and is for my personal enjoyment. Just spreading my love and my art!** Song: Genie in a Bottle by Dove Cameron Available on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/gen... (I really need to post more often....oops!)
It's my spring break! And that means there is just a little over a month left of this semester at MIAD. I can't believe how fast the time has flown by. On March 3rd, I declared my major in Illustration! I can't wait to begin my education in this discipline next year. Ideally, I would like to use this summer to prepare for the upcoming year. I will be intensely studying photoshop & illustration methods. I will be doing fanart, personal work, and overall just a lot of studies. I can't wait to share them with you all. Also, please look forward to seeing some of my work from school! After this semester is over, I plan on creating a page in my gallery for my assignments. (for now, you can see some of my school work on Instagram.) Ideally, I would like to just focus on my art this summer, but I most likely will be picking up a part time job. Even with that, I'm totally willing to take on freelance work. Please check out my commission price guide. Share it around if you want as well. Many thanks to all of you who have been inquiring about commissions these past few months and thanks for making my 3rd year of $20 Couple Doodles a HUGE success! Check them out in the commission gallery. Lastly, I am now on tumblr! Give me a follow if you want and be sure to reblog my work. :) I'll be uploading finished work, sketches, commissions, doodles, etc on there. Thanks for stickin with me! - Kati Tomorrow, 11/26/2015, I will be re-opening my store! Sorry for such a long hiatus, but I've been so busy with college. I hope I will make up for it with all the fun things I'm putting up for sale this weekend.
Most importantly - My 2016 Calendar will be available for Pre-Order starting tomorrow night. (I'm gonna wait until after all the Thanksgiving shenanigans to open up...) The exact time is still TBA, so stay tuned to my Instagram and Twitter for any updates. Or just check back here sometime on Friday for sure! I would wait until Black Friday BUT I'M JUST SO EXCITED! I can't wait! I will have a 30% off sale going as well in honor of Black Friday weekend lasting 11/26-11/29. The first 15 pre-orders will receive a FREE handmade "The Art of 2015" minibook featuring all the doodles from the past calendar. Also, I will have a few prints and posters up for grabs as well. I'm so excited about getting my shop up and running again. Please note that calendars will not be shipped until after 12/11. All others will ship as soon as possible from the date of purchase. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Sending you all warm hugs and snuggles. Thanks for all the support. Lots of love, Kati Hello, friends! Long time, no talk. I hope you are all doing well. I just sent off the first batch of calendars to be printed! I'm so incredibly excited and can't wait to see what you guys think of this project. My store will be reopening on Black Friday Weekend! So stay tuned for that. The calendars will be available as well as some prints. Of course, with my grand reopening AND Black Friday, there will be tons of extra goodies and deals so be sure to check up on here and my Instagram for more details. Well, now that I have a few days to relax before planning the Black Friday weekend sales. And by relax - I mean stress out over finals because I"ve been so focused on my calendar that I'm kind of falling behind....oops. WISH ME LUCK! Love you all, Kati Hi friends! Summer is almost over, and that means it's back to school time. However, unlike just about any other year, I'm not dreading going back. This time is different. I'm finally going off to college - and an art school, for that matter! I've never felt more excited to go off to school than ever before. This year, I hope to learn so much more about my craft, and to excel at everything I do! I hope you all continue to follow me on this journey. <3 Also a BIG Thank You to everyone who ordered from me this summer! I tried to offer some special deals for the summer - and I'm so glad that they were enjoyed by you guys as well! Here are ALL of the $5 Portrait doodles I created this summer! Alright, well looks like it's time for me to go back to packing for my dorm! (Ahh!)
Thanks again, for all the continuous support! I can't wait to keep sharing my art with all of you. <3 XOXO Kati Hey guys! So OF COURSE, you probably know that SDCC is going on right now. It's that time of year where my social media feeds fill up with all kinds of Nerdy & Geeky wonders. I dream to someday have my own booth at Comic-Con (cause how COOL would that be?!) but for now, I'm stuck doodling at home. For this weekend only, I'm gonna offer a coupon code in my store in honor of all the lovely artists living my dream at Comic Con! Click on the STORE tab, add one of my pieces to your cart, and then use coupon code KATICON for 25% off all items! Also my great friend, David Wilson, has uploaded his story "The Strangest Party" to SwoonReads.com. Do him a favor by rating it 5 stars! He could get $15,000 if they choose to publish his book. All you have to do is go to http://www.swoonreads.com/m/the-strangest-party, create a Swoon Reads account, and then rate it 5/5. You don't have to read it, but I recommend that you do! It's a good story. :) Thanks guys xoxo Kati Goodbye highschool. Hello SUMMER!
I'm so ecstatic to finally have finished this chapter in my life. It's been quite the journey, I must say. I've accomplished many things these past 4 years, and I've met so many amazing people. Although I'm going to miss my friends incredibly, I'm beyond ready to begin the next big step in my art career. In the Fall, I will be attending the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. I can't wait to see what MIAD has to offer for me, and I hope you all will continue on this journey with me. :) This summer I plan on being a lot more active with my site, blog, and store. I have lots of ideas for new promos and items to sell so stay tuned for those! Stay in touch with me through twitter and instagram. I post on those most regularly. Lots of love, Kati Happy Birthday to the most incredible, hardworking, dedicated, thoughtful, kind, breathtaking, and bold woman I know. Traci Hines is a beautiful human being inside and out and I'm so honored to get to know her! I discovered her on YouTube 6 years ago from her Thinking Of You by Katy Perry cover. I immediately was drawn to her magical voice, and after hours of marathoning her videos I knew I was hooked! It's so amazing to look back from then to now and see how much she's changed, and see the proof of all her hard work paying off. Traci has been my muse for the longest time, and I find pieces of inspiration from everything she does. In honor of her birthday I decided to make this drawing of her, encompassing some of her favorite things. Of course, the drawing is her as Princess Serenity (Sailor Moon) from her music video for Carry On. However, I wanted to do something different by adding a few touches of Ariel. (Starfish instead of a moon on her forehead & her gorgeous red locks!) And the last detail is kind of subtle, but can anyone spot the second star to the right? ;) Anyways, thank you Traci, for all that you do! You give me strength and inspire me in so many ways and I'm forever grateful for your kindness and friendship. I love you to the moon and back. 😁🌌🌙❤👑🎉
Check out Traci's youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/TraciJHines and her instagram at https://instagram.com/tracihines/ Hello, everyone!
A few days ago my mom nominated me for the Kid, You'll Move Mountains Scholarship from Dr. Suess Enterprises and the NEA. I'm happy to announce that my entry has made it to the voting round! Many of you have been huge supporters of my art for the past few years, and I'm officially going off to art school next fall. Of course, it will be pricey. Winning this scholarship would be a dream come true for me. So, if you could take a few minutes to put in your vote, I would be so appreciative. Did I mention... everyone who votes is entered to win a $500 prize? You can vote once per day, so get to it and help this doodlebug out. ;) So please, head on over and vote for my entry. CLICK HERE to get to my entry (and yes! Kati is short for Katrina! hehe) You can vote every day until April 12th. I hope you chose to support me, and please share with your friends and family. :] Thanks so much. Kati Hey everyone! I'm so excited to finally share my short film from my film class final! It was such an honor to collaborate with the lovely and talented Kristin Rose to create this film! I've been a dedicated #rosebud for YEARS. And the fact that Kristin supports my career as well is a dream come true (I bet my 8th grade self is fangirling hardcore...hehe) Our final assignment was to create a short film. At first I wanted to do a film entirely in animation, but I knew I would go insane! lol! That's when I came up with the idea of doing something live action AND animation! Of course, I've animated Kristin plenty of times back when she was with Friday Night Cranks, so I thought it would be fun to bring her back into another animation! I'm so happy that she agreed to do this with me. <3 Thank you Kristin! I love you so much! I'm so thankful for all the inspiration you've given me throughout the years. I tried a different style for this animation, and also directed this film long distance! (Kristin is located in New York.) It was such a fun project and I'd love to direct more films! I would love to hear all of your thoughts about the film! So, with that, this is Timeless. Please check it out and enjoy! <3 XOXO ALSO be sure to check out Kristin's BRAND NEW WEBSITE www.kristinrosemusic.com! It's SO COOL! Ps...can you spot my cameo appearance? |
