The Ultimate Sleepover Guide
In the illustration program at MIAD, junior students work on a semester long open project to prepare for senior thesis. We were expected to create an extensive project that culminates our interests and career goals as illustrators. Inspired by my childhood love of magazines such as American Girl Magazine, Girls Life, and other girly magazines, I decided to create a guide on how to throw a perfect slumber party. I wanted this guide to feel very nostalgic for myself and for my viewers but also be fresh and current for modern girls. The guide focuses on just a small snapshot of what could potentially be an entire book someday. The illustrations follow a bit of a narrative of some of my original characters enjoying a sleepover alongside the guide. This project was so fun, and I can definitely see myself pursuing this project further and developing the story of this slumber party too! Can anyone say...senior thesis?
Check out the guide!

Embroidery
Cassie Wanda of Glimmerwood has been a great friend of mine for years, and recently she asked me to help her with a vector image for an embroidery project. This was something really fun and exciting. She has been working on two gowns for Jessica of Made of Might, a cosplayer developing an Anastasia themed music video. Anastasia has been one of my favorite films for so long, and I’m so excited to have played a small part in Cassie’s process in making such a stunning gown. Follow along on the Anastasia story highlight via @glimmerwood’s Instagram page!

Kohl's
In March, I had the amazing opportunity to move onto the final round of interviews for Kohl’s Art Department Summer Internship. Although I did not get the position, it was a great learning experience to apply, interview, and tour the campus. As part of the final interview process, we had to create our own design and this is what I came up with. I was inspired by this painfully long winter to make a beachy surfer girl. This line mixes and matches various patterns and graphics to create an awesome array of sports leisure wear for girls ages 6-10.

Penfield Poster
Each year MIAD illustration juniors get to work with Cramer-Krasselt in designing a poster for the annual Croquet Ball in benefit of Penfield Children's Center. Although my design was not chosen, I am very proud of how this piece turned out as it is my largest and most complex illustration to date. I wanted to focus on the whimsy of childhood with my bright color scheme and the sweet delicacies of sugar and candy. I was reading The Candymakers by Wendy Mass at the time which definitely lent itself into inspiring the theme.

March for our Lives
I was approached by my good friend Sara Rose Freedman in March to create a poster for her to carry at her local March For Our Lives demonstration held on March 24th, 2018. We both share a deep love for Disney Channel Original Movies and so we worked together in making this poster, inspired by the incredibly brave students of Stoneman Douglas Highschool in Parkland, Florida and the revolutionaries in Mark Peter Hughes Lemonade Mouth.

Commissions

With the semester ending very soon (May 4th, 2018) I will have time once again to work extensively on commissions. As always, please visit my commission page for contact information and pricing! This summer will be a great time to get in contact with me to create work for you as I will not be able to take on as many jobs through my senior year. Stay tuned for updates.

Life

I am looking forward to this summer. I will be working at FFRF once again as an office assistant and continuing my work on our animation project. Summer calls for great memories to be made and I can't wait for all sorts of fresh inspiration to come in this beautiful time of year.

10,000 Subscribers on YouTube!

4/16/2017

THANK YOU! I've been on YouTube for over 7 years now. It started out as just a silly hobby and place where I made lots of friends (shout out to my TDI fam) But, today, I reached over 10,000 subscribers. I've experimented with many outlets on the platform. Although most of these videos are either private or deleted, I dabbled in stop motion, comedy skits, total drama island fan videos, video manipulations, piano covers, polymer clay tutorials, but this last year have finally found my voice through my speedpaint videos. It's been so incredible to watch my subscriber count soar this past year. I've always done my videos for my own pleasure, but know there are people out there who want to watch my creations inspires me so deeply. I can't wait to continue developing new content for you all to enjoy! ❤ Let me know what kinds of videos you guys wanna see next. I'm excited to continue this journey.

Commission Updates

2/19/2017

 Hey everyone!
Just wanted to give you guys some updates on what's happening over here at Katidoodlesmuch currently!

Commissions are changing.
On March 1st my rates will be doubling. Why the increase? Well, a few reasons. The value of my work has changed! I have more experience under my belt. The rates I am currently selling at are the same as when I started my website almost 4 years ago. It's about time I re-evaluate things, I would say.
Payment changes:
I will only be accepting payment through PayPal (or cash/ check for local orders).
Process:
An invoice will be sent as soon as price is agreed upon.
After payment I will get a sketch to you. Here is when I would prefer any change requests to be made.
Once the sketch is approved I will move on to completing the piece.
After the piece is finished I will offer the opportunity for 2 major changes (if any) to the piece. Additional charges may apply for extreme modifications needed on the drawing.
It is key to make any changes known in the sketch phase.

Stay tuned for the new commission price guide as it goes into affect on March 1st. Any orders inquired on before then qualify for the current pricing.

Lastly,
Here are some reminders:
*Must be 16 years or older or have parents permission to commission.
*These prices are a general idea of what you can expect. Price may vary depending on complexity of the commission.
*I will not draw obscenity, extreme gore, or any subject that makes me uncomfortable. I have the right to say yes and no to any of the above themes at my leisure.

In other news, this semester is off to a great start. I'm enjoying my classes. And now you can see my progress on the new page of the Gallery tab! The SCHOOL WORK page will bring you to my MIAD E-Portfolio. I will try to keep it as updated as possible, but as always most current updates can be found on my social media!

Take care, friends!
- Kati

Things are getting good over here for Katidoodlesmuch!

Just thought I'd give a little up date about what I've been up to this summer and what's to come this Fall!

Swan Lake

As many of you know, I started a Kickstarter Campaign to help fund my dream project of creating a Swan Lake illustrated book! It has reached 100% of the needed pledges to be successfully funded! I am stunned by how much support I've received on this project and I'm thankful for this amazing opportunity to develop my craft. In the next few months I will continue to develop the book with an estimated release for this Fall / Winter!
There is still time to support this project. The Kickstarter Campaign ends on August 8th at 10 AM CT
A pledge of $25 or more secures a Pre-Order of the book!

Keep On Dancing

Picture
The 2017 Calendar is now available for Pre-Order! This desk calendar features illustrations inspired by Ballroom Dances such as the Waltz, Tango, Samba, Jive, and many more!

Click the photo above to check out the store, or click here!

I'm very excited about these illustrations as they are very near and dear to my heart! I had such a fun time designing these characters, and I can't wait to share them all with you!

Here's some previews!
COLORING BOOK
To go along with this year's calendar, I will be releasing a corresponding Coloring Book! So now you'll be able to color in these dancers how you'd like!
More details are to come, but I'm estimating a release in early fall!

Late Bloomer Film

This summer, I joined a team of super awesome and creative people to help Kadanimation create the short film titled Late Bloomer! This has been such a great learning experience for me so far as I've helped with Character Designs, Storyboards, and now even Animation!
Here is some of the work so far:

I'm so excited to be part this project, and I'm happy to have made new friends from it! Keep up to date by checking out the #LateBloomerFilm tag on Social Media!

Back to school...

So, not only am I keeping up with all these projects, but classes begin again on the 29th. Although it's gonna be tough to juggle all of this - I am TOTALLY up for the challenge!

Keep up with me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook (@katidoodlesmuch for all of them!) as I post most frequently there.

It's Time to Reminisce...

Reminiscing about my old project, "TDIDWTS"
This is what inspired the Ballroom Dance theme for the 2017 calendar! My love for Total Drama and Dancing With the Stars is what went into creating this crossover "series" that I started it in Middle School! I worked on it for 3 years.
I have the videos Unlisted on youtube since I used quite a bit of content (music & themes) that I didn't have permission for. I also did it at a time where I used a fake name (Susan) on the internet and don't want people to be confused. haha.
But if anyone is interested in seeing the project that made me decide to become involved in the animation / illustration industry - I can send you the link to the playlist!
For now, here is the final episode! :,) I get teary eyed watching it because of how much time, love, and effort went into it! Plus I made life long friends because of it. (You guys know who you are!!)

Swan Lake - Kickstarter!

Ladies and Gentlemen - it has been my dream for several months now to release a book inspired by Swan Lake. With this Kickstarter - that dream can come true!

Katidoodlesmuch Presents: Swan Lake, a fully illustrated story inspired by the famous ballet. The fairytale comes to life through the illustrations and original storytelling of Kati Treu.

However, even a small run (50 books) is a bit too pricey for a one woman show.

So let's make this project a reality with crowdfunding!

A Kickstarter Fundraiser will begin on Monday, July 18th and run for 3 weeks. More info will be found on the kickstarter page once it is launched.
There are 9 tiers of rewards ranging through donations $1 - $200.

Every little bit helps! So do what you can do help make this girl's dream of independently printing a book come true!
